ROCHESTER, MN — In a powerful demonstration of labor solidarity, Teamsters Local 320’s membership voted unanimously during Saturday’s monthly meeting to inject $100,000 into the Chisago County Strike and Defense Fund.
Over 100 Teamsters at Chisago County are currently engaged in a difficult labor dispute after being forced to fight for the respect, wages, and working conditions they deserve. After 18-1/2 hours of State Mediation, negotiations between Chisago County and striking members of Teamsters Local 320 failed to move forward Saturday morning at 3:30 a.m. Mediation sessions included Attorney Ann Goering of Ratwik, Roszak & Maloney, the outside law firm representing the County.
Chisago County Health & Human Services and Government Center Professional Teamsters are now on Day 21 of their strike against Chisago County. While workers continue daily picketing outside the Government Center and Sheriff’s Department, negotiations between the parties are scheduled to resume tomorrow through State Mediation. The sides have not met at the bargaining table since April 10.
