Yesterday, Feb. 8, 2018, St. Paul Public Schools (SPPS) sent Teamsters Local 320’s Business Agent Josh Loahr an unfortunate memo. Josh Loahr is the union representative for Bus Drivers, Teaching Assistants, and Nutrition Service Workers at SPPS.
The memo informs Josh of a potential layoff for one or all of the Teamsters Local 320 bargaining units if the teachers decide to walkout on Tuesday, February 13, 2018. The memo provides a presumptive effective date of layoff for Thursday, February 22, 2018.
The memo is nothing more than speculation and propaganda – a scare tactic used by the District to intimidate and divide the union workers of SPPS.
For now, Teamsters Local 320 does not believe that SPPS has provided accurate and/or sufficient notice for any possible layoff.
Teamsters Local 320 will continue to support the teachers and their fight for smaller classroom sizes and for a better learning environment for all SPPS students.
MEMO: Important notice regarding potential strike by SPFT
