Minneapolis, MN— Teamsters Local 320 and AFSCME members at the University of Minnesota held a rally outside a major gala for wealthy donors who committed $500,000 each to the University. Union members who work for the University are being treated unfairly by management negotiators during contract talks.
Pleas were made by Brian Aldes, Teamsters Local 320 Secretary Treasurer to the wealthy donors to encourage University President Eric Kaler to settle the contract with dignity for the workers.
Over 200 union members and supporters demonstrated near the gala and the wealthy donors were exposed to the chants and pleas of Teamsters.
“All this could have been avoided had President Kaler and his negotiators taken contract talks seriously,” says Aldes. “Unfortunately, University negotiators have dragged their feet with their uncompromising, unnecessary, and unfair positions.”
